Whew! It has been a busy June/July and you will see that with the blog posts I will be pushing out in the next few days! Between a couple weddings, 1st birthdays, and ground breaking ceremonies I am catching up with my blogging and editing. I apologize that I'm a bit behind on my blog posts but I promise to make it up here quickly!
In this post we have a 1 year birth day session/cake smash with little Zachariah.
For this particular session, I went on a little road trip. While my studio is in Centerville, OH (a suburb of Dayton), this family is in Columbus. Most of my equipment is fairly portable so instead of having the baby on a long car ride and getting fussy we though it might work out best if I came to them instead. Happy baby = happy parents and better photos. So generally, everyone is happier all around its a win win.
Now, you can see above the little guy delving face first into the cake. He wasn't like this the whole session. Not all babies are all that head over heals with cake and may take a little bit of coaxing to try the stuff. We started with the little guy on the backdrop with the ONE letters for a pre-cake image.
But as soon as the cake came into the picture he tried to high tail it out of there. With patience we sat and talked him through it. Took icing and put some on his lips to taste, clapped in encouragement, and let him thoroughly explore. We finally called out the big guns and had dad walk him and fly him over his cake.
It took a little big but he finally did take some tastes face first, usually if someone was holding the cake up but he did attempt to reach it down on the ground.
Overall I think we had a really fun time playing with Zachariah and capturing these sweet, curious, and timid moments. No two babies are alike and so no two sessions are identical. They all have their own feel and its really a lot get the personalities of these little ones on camera.
